Is the end of the world real?

Yes it is. The end of the world is unavoidable.
It is scientifically proven that as soon as the Sun burns out all the hydrogen it will explode into a supernova and the Earth as we know it will be pulverized.
There is no question if the end is real. Everything that has a beginning has an end.
That is not the real question.
The question is not how are we going to die, but rather how are we going to live.

I believe it was Camus who said: "There is but one truly serious philosophical problem, and that is suicide. Judging whether life is or is not worth living amounts to answering the fundamental question of philosophy."
Once you have settled that question there is no other thing left to do but live.

So how are we going to live?
Is it unavoidable that corporate greed and political corruption should rule the world while enlightenment and decency should suffer and wither?
Well, it is all up to you.
Yes you have the power to determine the future of this country, the future of this planet.

The so called powers of this world are actually powerless without you.
You are the ones that plant the crops and put the food on the tables.
You are the ones that build the houses and the roads.
You are the ones that build the guns and that fight the wars.
Without you the rich and powerful would die of starvation.

Yeah, that is nice BS you might say, so let me ask you:
Would the banks and the lenders have succeeded in raping the Americans house market, if millions of people would have not bought into the financial scam of the sub prime lending?
You see nobody has put a gun to anybody’s head to buy a house that they could not afford, or to get a second mortgage they did not need.
Who is putting the corrupt politicians in power year after year, after year?
You do. And you know what they say: “You fool me once, shame on you. You fool me twice shame on me”
Who is fighting the wars? I don’t think the rich and powerful are spilling their blood for the protection of democracy and cheap oil. Do you?

So you see it takes two to tango.
Evil needs ignorance and ignorant people in order to succeed; because frankly, evil is very weak and cowardly, and unless it finds the suckers to do its deeds it is pretty much helpless.
Something to think about when you feel helpless, used and abused.

Maybe the most radical thing to do is to do nothing and let it all just fall apart of it's own accord? Plenty of life to live without fixing the lives of others.
Takes two to tango, for sure. Both wanting to do good and both thinking Evil is the other guy.

Happy blogging future!
Sometimes people's hands are tied. I was watching a programme on illicit alcohol being made in the Solomon Islands. There is no work and the men peddling the illicit stuff had wives and children to feed. They say they have no choice and the people buying it say to buy legit stuff is too expensive. Evil people or evil systems? Wh can tell anymore?

Congrats on your four month anniversary! Keep up the great blogging, Buddha.

Evil takes many guises...and often the guises are very pleasing and hard to ignore. So much of what is wrong with the world seems to be an overwhelming apathy. People don't want to make changes, because change is scary and everyone it seems is busy trying to keep up with the changes that take place even while they shake their heads and close their eyes.

@ Ted – It looks like that is the plan Ted!

@ Chocolate Covered Vegan – Send me some chocolate!

@ Aggie – Thank you Aggie!
Do people make the system or does the system makes the people?

@ Talon – Thank you talon!
Yup, change is scary indeed!

Actually greed has crept into society. We all want fatter paychecks, bigger job titles, at home we want more bedrooms, swimming pools, etc. Did you know that a corporation has the same rights as a human being! Corporate greed and personal ambition go hand in hand.

Happy 4th month, Buddha. You've become a part of my life!
This was a thoughtful and thought-provoking post. I'm glad that, as others got themselves in way over their heads, my husband and I stuck right here in our modest old house in our modest mixed neighborhood!

I like the Stumble and Digg buttons. I'm not sure how you got those on your blog...

(Thanks for your comment after my last post, as it stirred up a follow-up post.)

Ah yes - but if we vote for the other lot exactly what will they do differently? Not a fat lot, as history has proven.

Despite everything our politicians say economics and life itself is little more than a raft on a stream with no land in sight - we can only steer in vaguely the right direction and hope for the best.

Political apathy is a serious problem in the UK - only about 20% turnout at local elections is a disgrace: yet we all complain.

I agree about the housing market - but again: in the UK our government raided the pension schemes, leaving people with little choice but to invest.

Gordon Brown has much to answer for

Buddha,
I think caring to much about what people would say if we did the wrong thing can often look like apathy on the part of people not wanting to change things when it's not that at all.
I guess if one runs around saying there no such thing a Evil, showing it's just a game that's used to dominate you, they just end up looking like a crackpot. (Speaking from experience) Can be hard to do it alone, eh?
Quite a thing goin' on at James' blog on the "Why I got into Zen" post with the issue of caring what people think too much.
Thanks for going to my blog. Did you start at the beginning? Happy 4 for you and keep going!

I also think L. Venkata hit it right on the nose. More and more people want to be Master, too. That's a counter problem because it ends up just supporting the Master that are already there. Though it could be called being a good slave.

ooh, great point. If "the people" are the ones doing the heavy lifting, who's really making things happen? The leaders or the workers?

Unknown said...

@ - L Venkata – No. I did not know that and in a way it is kind of scary!

@ Lydia – Thank you dear friend! You mean a lot to me.
About the buttons; I will have to write the procedure down. It is complicated at least for people like me, maybe even write a post. Give me a little time :)

@ Pixie – Very true, but we can always improve one self :)

@ Ted – I love your comments and actually I would like to write a post in reply.
Thank you for being my friend!

@ Ariel – It all depends on your definition of “making things happen”

the mere fact that all is connected, i guess every single thing we do has an impact on its totality. that means every single good thing you do will have an impact not only to the people whom you did your charity but it also reflects to people around you, to nature and to the world. everything starts with us - economic, political, cultural, environmental phenomena, etc. what is lacking is the social dimension of individuality's goodness..if there's a collective compliments of each individuals' goodness and maturity in facing life's struggles...
thanks for dropping by at my blog...nice one you have here...

Yes the problems are huge, but I also believe we can as you so clearly state and do have an impact on how it all works. As mentioned in the comments, apathy and greed are huge problems.

We often solve problems, create change in our smaller communities, there is no reason we can't collectively create change in the larger community.

We are in control because of collective conciseness. If everyone thinks that something is going to happen it will because our thoughts have the power to create our world the way we want it. We are more powerful than most people realize and this has been proven to be true by science.

Love and Blessings,
